Japan races to restore power at reactors but long battle looms. Last resort: Bury nuclear reactor in Japan

If Singapore's government still persists in building a nuclear plant, there will be public backlash. We cannot allow academic views to influence the decision as to whether one should be built. Even if Singapore doesn't sit on fault lines or will be impacted by tsunamis, the question is one of disposal of radioactive material and public sentiment on the matter. Furthermore, just basing the "safety" of a reactor on the fact that there have only been two major disasters over the past 60 years is ridiculous. Would you want to take the risk on such a big decision that plays with the lives of your fellow citizens? I think that we cannot let the views of Dr. Hooman Peimani or T.S. Gopi Rethinaraj influence decisions, because overall, it is purely academic in nature. You never know what could happen, and citing an "act of God" isn't a strong case for the event of a random reactor ...
