20 Singaporeans have decided to remain in Sendai

SINGAPORE - Despite arrangements to help Singaporeans living in Sendai - located only 90km from Fukushima - leave for safer locations, 20 Singaporeans have decided to remain in the area, Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Thursday. And one of them is Mary, who declined to give her full name. The Singaporean in her early 30s told MediaCorp that she was not worried about her safety as Sendai is not within the 20km exclusion zone established by the Japanese authorities. She added: "The Japanese government is very conservative in their warnings. I think it's the international media who are more sceptical and more worried."
