Peer-pressurising S'poreans to keep fit

SINGAPORE: Getting Singaporeans aged above 40 to maintain physical and mental well-being through peer pressure -- that is what the Senior Health Ambassador Programme aims to do. Participants of the programme will be trained on healthy ageing, communication and mentoring. Some 100 seniors are pioneering this Health Promotion Board's initiative, launched on Saturday by Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan. The aim is for membership to grow to 300 by the end this year. Ambassadors can share health tips and refer health programmes and services to their peers through outreach events like workshops, talks, exercise classes, sharing sessions, road-shows and one-on-one health chat sessions.
