Quake donations at FairPrice, Dairy Farm-owned stores

SINGAPORE: Red Cross collection tins began to fill up islandwide at more than 1,000 retail outlets owned by Dairy Farm Singapore and NTUC FairPrice. The tins were placed at customer service counters at Cold Storage, Market Place, ShopNSave, Giant and FairPrice outlets to collect donations for the Japan quake victims as early as 9am Saturday. 33-year-old Singaporean banker Benjamin Quek, who was at a FairPrice Xtra outlet in Ang Mo Kio on Saturday afternoon, said he had been keeping in contact with Japanese colleagues and friends affected by the quake in Japan. He explained why he felt moved to donate. "Just the kind of coverage we see on television news and the things that they (the quake victims) are going through.
