Hawkers in Bedok and Kampong Chai Chee pledge to maintain prices

SINGAPORE: More than 120 hawkers in Bedok and Kampong Chai Chee have pledged to maintain prices for six months or try not to raise prices. They are part of efforts by the Bedok North 216 Food Centre & Market Hawker's Association and Kampong Chai Chee Blk 207 Food Centre Area Sub-Committees to cushion the impact of rising prices. The initiative is supported by the Singapore Bedok Town Centre Merchant's Association. A number of stalls in Bedok have traditionally kept prices low, with some maintaining a S$2.00 price tag for more than 10 years. Customers of the stalls which have pledged to maintain prices will be given coupons to free coffee or tea at other participating drink stalls in both food centres during the launch on Sunday.
