SINGAPORE: The National Solidarity Party (NSP) has announced that it will field lawyer Jeannette Chong-Aruldoss as its candidate for the single-member constituency of Mountbatten in the upcoming General Election. In a statement on Sunday, Ms Chong said Mountbatten is very close to her heart as she had lived there as a child and in the early years of her marriage. She said she wants to use her candidacy in Mountbatten as an avenue for residents to have their own voice in Parliament. 47-year-old Ms Chong has been a lawyer for 22 years. She plans to address issues such as the growing income disparity between the rich and the poor, healthcare expenses of the elderly, as well as the rising costs of living. Ms Chong earned her law degree from the United Kingdom and was called to the English Bar in 1986. She also holds a Masters Degree in Corporate and Commercial Law from the Lon...
