Mercy Relief supplies reach affected areas in Japan

SINGAPORE : Singapore humanitarian organisation Mercy Relief said its supplies have reached affected areas of quake-hit Japan. Its second team arrived in Japan early Saturday morning to link up with the earlier team near Iwate prefecture. They dispatched the first batch of relief supplies to the designated supply base. These were sorted by Japanese authorities before being distributed to disaster victims. Mercy Relief said most of the evacuation centres nearer to cities have been properly served, but not those closer to the coast. These include remote areas which have limited access due to broken bridges and damaged roads.
