Increase in sales expected at Fashion Season @ Orchard: By Travis Teo | Posted: 20 March 2011 2324 hrs SINGAPORE...

SINGAPORE : Orchard Road retailers expect to make 5 per cent more in sales at this year's Fashion Season @ Orchard, compared with last year. This is according to the Orchard Road Business Association, which adds that retailers took in S$33.2 million in the same period last year. The outlook is bullish this year because of strong economic growth, low unemployment and rising wages. Gap, Miss Selfridge and Guess are just some of the familiar names participating at the second annual Fashion Season @ Orchard. Organisers said the event plans to create more awareness about fashion retailers on Orchard Road. And industry observers expect shops to ring up more sales this year, despite higher inflation.
