Here's a lunch-time survey for you: How can we minimise food wastage in Singapore? Share your ideas with us.

A reader of The Straits Times called for restaurants to start minimising offering conventional buffets, and suggested diners pay according to the weight of the food they eat. -- PHOTO: WANBAO THE world is facing a food shortage. People have been suffering in many countries even before the tragic events in Japan these last nearly two weeks, so let us all be more conscious of this. Though we are not in a position to make much of an impact, symbolically, we should change some of our eating habits, and do what is right. Let us start with buffets. Restaurants should minimise offering the conventional buffet, and instead, do it in a different way, as widely practised in Brazil, where diners pay according to the weight of food. This way, we reduce food waste, and help restaurants and the world. We will also avoid overeating and save money at the same time since the bills are like...
