SINGAPORE : The People's Association (PA) wants to engage half a million senior citizens through its Wellness Programme by 2014. The programme encourages Singaporeans and PRs aged 50 and above to stay physically and mentally active. So far, PA said about 70,000 senior citizens have been participating in various programmes and activities at 42 constituencies. Deputy chairman of PA, Lim Boon Heng, said another 42 constituencies will come on board by 2012. Despite increasing numbers, the association faces some challenges in getting senior men to participate. Mr Lim said: "Our biggest hurdle today is to understand what the men want. We have many ladies participating, but too few men. I still haven't got the fix as to why men don't come out, but the ladies come out more easily."
