Psoriasis sufferers urged to seek early medical treatment

SINGAPORE: Experts urge sufferers of psoriasis - a non-contagious inflammatory skin condition that leads to the thickening of the skin and scaling - to come forward and seek medical treatment. The skin disease affects about one per cent of Singapore's population, and has been shown to affect health-related quality of life to an extent similar to effects of other chronic diseases like hypertension and congestive heart failure or type 2 diabetes. 36-year-old Mr Shawn Wong, a marketing professional, has been suffering from Psoriasis for the past 21 years and has had to cope with social stigma and physical pain.
