More than $8.8 million in cash donations have come in from Singapore so far, aid agencies said

The latest tally: More than $8.8 million, say aid agencies and the Japanese Association here. As of yesterday, the Singapore Red Cross (SRC) has raised a total of $5.73 million. This excludes the $500,000 pledged by the Government. Aid agency Mercy Relief has raised $831,482, and another humanitarian group, World Vision Singapore, has received more than $491,000. The Japanese Association in Singapore has raised $1,811,802 as of Tuesday. Companies continue to chip in.
