Tokyo stocks open 1.38% higher - Straits Times /@FLASH_NEWS

TOKYO Tokyo shares opened 1.38 per cent higher on Friday on bargain buying following Thursday's losses and on a positive lead from US stocks overnight, dealers said. The benchmark Nikkei 225 index rose 130.48 points to 9,565.49 in the first seconds of trading. Dealers said they expected the Nikkei to rise after US stocks advanced overnight on encouraging earnings and better-than-expected jobs data. HONG KONG Hong Kong shares gained 0.81 per cent in early trade on Friday, with the Hang Seng Index climbing 186.25 points to 23,101.53. SHANGHAI Chinese shares were flat in early trade on Friday as investors remained cautious about the country's persistent inflation, dealers said.
