Calling all aspiring matchmakers!

SINGAPORE: A new pilot programme for "Modern Matchmakers" was announced on Friday by the Social Development Network (SDN). Minister of State for Community Development, Youth and Sports, Mrs Yu-Foo Yee Shoon, made the announcement at the Marriage Convention 2011. SDN will work with training agencies to devise a course for those who want to help "matchmake" their single friends or relatives. Mrs Yu-Foo said Deputy Registrars of Marriages (DRMs) and Family Life Champions (FLCs), who have a vested interest in promoting marriage and family life, will take part in the pilot programme. She said: "We want to develop a culture that Singaporeans, all of us have an interest. Even myself, I can also think of some friends, why don't I refer them to each other or I just email this number - if you have no objections I can give your handphone (number) to this boy or this girl."
