HONG KONG: Hong Kong's second-in-command said on Monday (Sep 29) the government would postpone further discussions on political reform. But Hong Kong's Chief Secretary Carrie Lam also warned it would be unrealistic for Beijing to reverse its decision to vet candidates for the city's next leader. Her comments came after the city's police unleashed dozens of rounds of tear gas in a botched attempt to disperse thousands of pro-democracy protesters who have paralyzed some of the city's main streets.
