PAP & up to six opposition parties to discuss short and long term challenges facing Singapore on TV

SINGAPORE - Voters will get the chance to watch the ruling party and potentially six opposition parties discuss the "short and long term challenges" facing Singapore in two television forums being organised by Channel NewsAsia (CNA). According to the series of invitations dated March 22, which Today has obtained, one forum will be in English and the other in Mandarin. They will be telecast on April 2 on CNA and on April 3 on Channel 8, respectively. A quick check by Today found that such pre-election television forums involving the ruling party and the Opposition have not been staged in almost two decades. In the invitations, Ms Lee Siew Hoon, an executive editor at CNA wrote: "Each one-hour programme will adopt a structured format with timings allotted".
