SINGAPORE - Schools will get more support to become more innovative in the way they teach, with the Education Ministry (MOE) increasing funding for the Innovation Adoption Platform by 80 per cent to S$360,000. It will fund more projects, as well as support schools which want to adopt projects from other schools. The announcement was made yesterday at the MOE ExCEL Fest, an annual event since 2005 where teachers, parents and the public can find out about the latest and most innovative ideas in the education landscape. An example of such projects is a giant board game created by mathematics teacher Gary Sng at Tampines Secondary School to teach algebra called "Lost in Algewoods". The school was one of the two winners of the Gold Innergy Awards at this year's event. The life-size board game pits two teams against each other to evaluate algebraic expressions.
