Milk launched to fight obesity

SINGAPORE: The Health Promotion Board (HPB) launched on Saturday a healthier form of milk to help address rising obesity among children in Singapore. HPB CEO Ang Hak Seng said: "Obesity is a challenging issue here for Singapore. "Many of you will know that, obesity for the last few years, has actually crept up one per cent each year to 11 per cent to date". Mr Ang added that if no action were taken to tackle obesity, it could worsen in future. HPB said it is paying a lot of attention to the development and nutrition of children. To support the fight against obesity, it has worked with Abbott Nutrition to develop milk that has 25 per cent less sugar and 25 per cent less saturated fat than usual milk.
