Problem-gambling forum organised

SINGAPORE: Some 300 people on Saturday attended a forum on problem gambling, organised by the National Addictions Management Service. The Service treats problem gambling and other behavioural addictions, and is located at Singapore's Institute of Mental Health. The forum saw psychiatrists and counsellors discuss when gambling crosses the line to become a problem. They also talked about what goes on inside a gambler's mind. Experts said many pathological gamblers think they are in control of their gambling habits. But they become trapped in a vicious cycle of losing when they start chasing losses. And at this point, experts said the best bet may be to seek treatment.
