Japan disasters 'may yield investment opportunities'.

SINGAPORE - The recent disasters may not have a major impact on Japan's long-term outlook and may even present opportunities to investors as Japanese companies ramp up production and scale up their profit margins, analysts said. While the Nikkei has started to regain some ground, overall in the last two weeks, it has come down in the region of 7 per cent. So where should investors look for a good opportunity? Other than plays such as construction being the obvious choice as the Japanese government looks to rebuild what has been lost, Mr Eric Chaney, chief economist at AXA Group, says opportunities lie across the board. "It's broad-based because, based on macro-analysis, it will benefit all Japanese companies. So if you do not want to choose this or that sector, buying the Japanese stock makes a lot of sense."
