Four coffeeshops pledge to keep prices low

SINGAPORE - Four coffeeshops in Serangoon North Avenue 1 have pledged to keep prices down for the next six months as part of efforts to help residents cope with rising prices. Coffeeshop owners say it is their way of showing appreciation to faithful customers, and some of them are offering perks like a free curry puff for every drink that a customer buys. Customers can identify participating stalls with the Retail Price Watch Group sticker. More than 90 per cent of the stallholders are part of the anti-inflation drive. Mrs Lim Hwee Hua, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office and MP for Aljunied GRC, said: "After six months, I hope that (inflationary) pressures will alleviate. Most importantly, I hope that the volume of business would have increased or at least be maintained enough for them to keep prices at the same level as well."
