VIENNA - THE Vienna Boys' Choir, one of Austria's best-selling musical exports, said on Wednesday it would 'very likely' cancel an upcoming tour of Japan in view of the unfolding nuclear catastrophe there. The world-famous 'Wiener Saengerknaben' - which alongside the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna Philharmonic ranks among the Austrian capital's musical elite - said in a statement that it would probably cancel a 33-date tour which had been scheduled to start at the end of April. The choir has toured regularly in Japan since 1955. 'Japan is like a second home to us and it's not only the Japanese who look forward to our annual tours,' said the choir's director Gerald Wirth. 'But since the the earthquake on March 11, everything has changed. In view of the nuclear catastrophe, the planned two-month tour will very likely have to be postponed indefinitely,' Wirth said.
