[CNA] Asians more positive about stocks than global counterparts, says survey

SINGAPORE: Asians are most positive about the global economic outlook and this has translated into an upbeat sentiment to invest outside of their home markets. This is according to a survey by Franklin Templeton Investments on global investor sentiment. The findings also show that Asians are twice more likely to invest in stocks than their global counterparts. The survey polled over 13,000 people worldwide and was conducted in January 2011. Interest in global markets is on the rise, with 62 per cent of investors planning to invest outside their home markets over the next decade. According to the survey, only about four in 10 respondents currently do so. The findings also suggest that Asian investors are the most upbeat with 73 per cent ready to invest in overseas markets.
