Indonesia inflation unexpectedly eases in March - TODAYonline

JAKARTA - Indonesia's headline inflation rate slowed last month due to lower food prices, giving the central bank room to leave its key interest rate unchanged when its policy board meets later this month. Price pressures have become a focal point for investors in emerging markets such as Indonesia, where inflation has been persistently higher than the central bank's target range. Indonesia's consumer price index (CPI) - the country's key gauge of inflation - increased by 6.65 per cent on year in March, easing from a 6.84 per cent on-year rise in February, Indonesia's official Central Statistics Agency said on Friday. The result was lower than the 6.94 per cent median forecast of 12 regional economists polled by Dow Jones Newswires.
