I don’t buy that « Opinion « THE TEMASEK REVIEW

New citizens are a fact of life whether we like it or not. Some like it here, so they apply for citizenship. But new citizens must also bear in mind that they need to intergrate into Singapore society…this takes time and effort. Over time, their contributions show in their actions and involvement in society such as community service and various forms of volunteerism. Singaporeans can all see that. Whether new citizens should jump right into political office is a different matter. Would Dr. P and the newbies take up Singapore citizenship if there were NO offer of political office, is a question still unanswered. Only they know.
