Work on a new carpark, retail and office spaces there is also on track. The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) announced last Friday that Horti-Flora Services had won its $1.1 million tender award. Work on the 1.5km stretch of road will include furnishing walkways with non-slip terracotta tiles and upgrading open roadside drains to covered ones. Seven new heritage markers describing the old Balestier market and Art Deco and single-storey shophouses, and three new storyboards with historical information will also be put up by October, to enhance the area's old-world ch...
