GE: S'poreans can decide what real issues are, says Shanmugam

SINGAPORE : Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam has said Singaporeans are capable of deciding for themselves what the real issues are in the coming General Election and not be distracted by Internet chatter. He said this when asked if Internet comments on some candidates could detract from the real concerns of the country. He was speaking to reporters after the official opening of a park in Nee Soon South on Sunday. The Internet has been abuzz with comments related to the upcoming General Election. But Mr Shanmugam believes the cyber talk will not divert Singaporeans' attention from important concerns. He said: "It is up to us to set out what the issues are and for people to decide whether or not we are being honest in saying what the issues are and what is important for them.
