CCTV footage caught three Filipinos in the act of taking items from a Tampines jewellery outlet on March 26. The store’s director, Ms Yeah Lee Ching, said she viewed the footage with staff after a diamond bracelet worth $11,000 and gold earrings worth $200 were found missing during stock-taking the morning after the theft took place. "We were all surprised," she said of seeing how one man, who was very tall, managed to slide his hand under a glass-and-metal grille barrier to grab the pieces after a few attempts. She described him as being close to 1.9m tall; he committed the act with the help of his two accomplices. One of them had asked a staff member to get another to wear a bangle, under the pretext of wanting to know how it would look on a woman.
