17,500 passengers affected by rush hour #breakdown: #SMRT

Around 17,500 passengers were affected by this morning's (Apr 7) MRT breakdown on the east-west line, an SMRT spokesperson told STOMP. Passengers on one of the trains near Tiong Bahru station had alerted the officers of two passengers who were feeling unwell . They have been sent to the hospital. The SMRT spokesperson said: "On 7 April at 8.49am, eastbound train was disrupted due to a train fault. To maintain train service, some westbound trains were turned around at Queenstown MRT Station and some eastbound trains were turned around at Outram Park MRT Station. "Announcements were made in all stations and on affected trains to inform passengers of the delay. "Passengers on board one of the trains near Tiong Bahru MRT Station alerted the Train Officers of two passengers who were feeling unwell. Operations Control Centre was informed and an ambulance activated to be on stand...
