[CNA] Japan disaster, MidEast unrest concern MPs

SINGAPORE: The impact on Singapore's economy from the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan and the conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa are some of the questions Members of Parliament (MPs) would ask on Monday in Parliament. Ten out of 21 questions tabled by MPs for Monday's sitting of the House will be on these topics. They will also include the nuclear fallout in Japan. MPs want to know the projected economic growth for Singapore for 2011 in the light of these global issues and whether it will affect the pace of inflation. On the Fukushima nuclear fallout, MPs want the Trade and Industry Minister to provide an update on the status of the feasibility study for nuclear power in Singapore. With the General Election around the corner, Non-Constituency MP Sylvia Lim has a question on recent changes to Nomination Day proceedings. In particular, she wants to know wha...
