SINGAPORE: Doctors say those who suffer from acute heart attacks can get treatment faster. This is thanks to a new project that aims to cut down the time a heart attack patient takes to receive treatment. The million-dollar project is one of the 330 papers presented at an annual scientific conference organised by the Singapore General Hospital (SGH). When a person suffers from an acute heart attack, the first 90 minutes are crucial. For the past two years, medical professionals from various hospitals have been finding ways to reduce the time such patient takes to receive treatment. These include training paramedics to perform an assessment called the 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) right away. This was previously only conducted at the hospital. The information is then wirelessly transmitted to the hospital from the ambulance so that the hospital can prepare treatment even ...
