Over 100 turned up at Holland V yest in tees n slippers to protest Samantha's comments abt "uncultured" heartlanders

A group of seven friends came decked out in t-shirts/singlets, shorts and slippers and proudly held up signs that read "I love the heartlands". They were among about 100 people who turned up Holland Village yesterday afternoon to protest against radio caller Samantha's comments about "uncultured" heartlanders. In response to her infamous radio rant, computer game developer Gerald Tock created a facebook event called "1000 peeps to Holland V in Singlets, Shorts and Slippers Day". Although 2,000 people indicated on Facebook that they would attend the event, only about 100-odd turned up in the end. It was also not clear if those where were dressed in singlets, shorts and slippers were there for the event or if they were in their usual weekend attire. More in today's edition of The New Paper on Sunday (Apr 10).
