SINGAPORE - Concerns over policy risk and moderating home sales have trickled into market sentiment, prompting downgrades on some property developer stocks. Still analysts are sanguine on retail property stocks and their respective retail trusts, citing rental growth and rising consumer spending as main earning drivers. CLSA recently downgraded top developers Keppel Land, CapitaLand, and SC Global Developments, saying the cooling measures in both Singapore and China were imminent threats to future growth. The research house cut its rating for Keppel Land from "Outperform" to "Buy", despite last year's strong financial performance from office rental income and buoyant property sales. CLSA analyst Pang Chin Hong said Keppel Land may find it "challenging" to achieve such strong results this year, due to cooling measures in China and Singapore as well as slowing home sales in ...
