A SEMESTER in the States is quite a dream come true for an avid runner seeking to run. I did the Cooper River Bridge Run (CRBR) last Saturday and will be doing the Tar Heel 10-miler tomorrow, and I was really intrigued that both organising teams used virtual race packets. As a participant of many races back in Singapore, such e-packets were an entirely new concept to me - one which I thought was ingenious. The CRBR participants were provided a "race-let" USB wristband, which contained important race-access information, the online magazine and downloadable sponsor coupons. This means participants download only what they want. Think about the amount of paper cut down on, considering the scale of the event - 40,000 people, not including the volunteers. Every year, the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore welcomes a record number of runners. Last year there were 60,000 runner...
