Above 45? Male? Need testosterone?

It appears that Singapore men have some trouble ageing gracefully. One in four men above 45 years old suffer from testosterone deficiency syndrome, according to a local study conducted by the Society of Men's Health, Singapore. Dr Jiann Bang-Ping, president of the Taiwanese Association of Andrology, who spoke at the Asia-Pacific Congress of Urological Diseases held here last week, said in the natural course of ageing, it is normal for testosterone levels to decline slightly. What is not normal, added Dr Colin Teo, consultant urologist at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, is when excessively low levels begin affecting the quality of life such as decreased libido, lethargy, depressed moods, irritability, decreased concentration, lower muscle strength and sleep disturbances.
