Nutella sues coffee maker for trademark infringement.

SINGAPORE - The Italian makers of Nutella hazelnut spread and coffee chain TCC are embroiled in a legal suit over the latter's "Nutello" beverage. Ferrero SpA are suing TCC's parent company, Sarika Connoisseur Cafe, for alleged trademark infringement. According to Bloomberg, the firm is controlled by billionaire Michele Ferrero and also makes Ferrero Rocher truffles and tic tac sweets. At the first day of the hearing yesterday, Ferrero said it knew about the drink in late 2009 and noted the drink's description reinforces Nutella as the main ingredient. The use of the name of the drink was without its permission, the firm said. Said Ferrero's lawyer M Ravindran: "Nutella is an invented word; it's highly distinctive."
