Spanish PM in S'pore for two-day working visit

SINGAPORE: Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero is in Singapore for a two-day working visit, and called on Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana Wednesday evening. Mr Zapatero briefed the Minister Mentor and the Prime Minister separately on reforms in Spain in response to the economic crisis in Europe. He also discussed opportunities for Singapore and Spain to strengthen bilateral economic relations and cooperation in fields such as research, education and renewal energy. Prime Minister Lee and his Spanish counterpart also witnessed the signing of two Singapore-Spain Agreements - on tax issues and for further co-operation in culture, education and science. The agreements were on Singapore-Spain Agreement on Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to Taxes on Income, and the Singap...
