Consumers slow down shopping in February

This sent retail sales dropping 3.6 per cent in February over January, the Department of Statistics (DOS) said on Friday. On a year-on-year basis, sales were also down 12.1 per cent in February over the same month in 2010. Excluding motor vehicles, retail sales would have stayed the same in February from January, the DOS added. They would also have slipped by a smaller amount - just 3.5 per cent - in February compared with a year ago, it said in a press release.
