SSC, PA looking at integrated management of sports and recreational facilities

SINGAPORE: The Singapore Sports Council and People's Association are exploring how sports complexes co-located at community clubs can come under one management. In most cases, the Sports Council looks after sports facilities while the People's Association manages the community clubs. The Senja-Cashew Community Club is making an impact because of its people-centric approach in running things. A mural in the community club, which was painted by students of nearby secondary schools, will be repainted on a yearly basis to give more youths a stake in the facility. It is one way the community club is giving people in the area a greater sense of ownership. The club serves residents in Bukit Panjang SMC and Holland-Bukit Timah GRC.
