SAF Captain charged with receiving bribes

SINGAPORE: A Singapore Armed Forces Captain has been charged with receiving bribes from a 58-year-old businessman in exchange for providing confidential information relating to military projects. 31-year-old Phua Poh Sim is believed to have received S$53,100 in the form of cash loans from Yow Wah. Phua allegedly did so on five separate occasions between May and August 2008, and he is represented by lawyer, Gloria James. Yow was also charged today with giving the bribes and S S Dhillon is his defence counsel. The pre-trial conference for the cases will be held on June 9.
