Government's $86m boost for Singapore's retail sector

The new plan, which aims to improve the retail sector's value add per worker by 25 per cent, by 2015, was announced by Minister of State for Trade and Industry and Manpower, Mr Lee Yi Shyan on Tuesday during an industry visit at Robinsons Centrepoint. 'The plan provides a holistic approach to guide the retailer's productivity efforts in three broad areas, namely Process, People and Service,' said Mr Lee. Mr Lee said the $86 million productivity improvement plan for the retail sector - rolled out through enterprise development agency Spring Singapore - is part of a national effort spearheaded by the National Productivity Continuing Education Council.
