US debt outlook cut to cause little dent to Asian economies: By Millet Enriquez | Posted: 19 April 2011 2345 hrs...

SINGAPORE : The fall in Asian markets following Standard & Poor's negative outlook for the credit worthiness of US sovereign debt is unlikely to last. Analysts said the downgrade warning was not a surprise and only underlines what market watchers have already priced in. Analysts said the negative outlook for US sovereign debt is not likely to cause a serious dent on Asian economies. Less attractive US government bonds could in fact lead investors to move into relatively more stable and high yielding markets of Asia. Wong Sui Jau, General Manager of Fundsupermart.com said: "Generally, the knee jerk reaction is we'll see some brief sell-off in the markets, but I do believe the sell-off in the markets should be temporary.
