ESC(ape) to virtual reality!

SINGAPORE - Online games take on new meaning with the unrolling of SingTel's latest innovation, ESC. Pronounced "escape", the service uses virtual servers to store games so users do not have to deal with game storage, long downloads and installation downtimes. Using the latest in "cloud" computing knowledge, ESC brings video games to televisions and laptops through a one-time client download. Data is stored in multiple virtual servers and streamed to the user's television or laptop whenever they feel like picking up a game. ESC is the first "cloud" based gaming system in Asia. A similar service, OnLive, has been available in the United States and United Kingdom since last year. While OnLive provides top quality games on demand through a wireless controller and console - which could be linked directly to a television - ESC is available through client downloads on television...
