Compostela Valley Governor Arturo Uy says the shanties and tents where miners and their family members were sleeping have been buried under about 80 to 100 feet (25 to 30m) of mud, soil, rocks and other debris from Friday's predawn landslide. Mr Uy said on Saturday that he would recommend a 30-day suspension of small-scale mining in the village of Kingking in Pantukan township while geologists determine whether it is still safe for miners.
