SINGAPORE - A number of Singapore schools have, since the beginning of the year, been ordering iPads on government procurement Web portal GeBIZ to aid classroom learning for pupils. From subjects such as music to mathematics, primary and secondary schools are planning for pupils to start learning on the popular Apple touchscreen multimedia tablet. A check shows that about 20 schools have purchased the devices, with Raffles Girls' School topping the list at 90 orders. Principals and teachers feel that it is easier to engage the attention of young children using the tablet, due to its touchscreen capability, multitude of applications and the mobility to bring learning out of the classroom.
