At the Koi Art Gallery in Sukhumvit Soi 31, a two-in-one painting exhibition is on show. In one walk-around you can see the works of two painters attempting to portray their totally opposite interpretations of Thai society and Bangkok. One part of the exhibition, "Colour of Day", is by Anita Suputipong, a pleasant and pretty young lady who studied graphic design and whose paintings reflect "innocence and beauty". The other part is "Colour of Night" by Chris Coles, whose paintings are part of the "Bangkok Noir" movement of writers and artists whose works reflect the lives and happenings at night-time in the City of Angels and the darker side lurking in humans. Personally, I am an avid fan of Coles' strong brush strokes and vivid colours that reveal the personalities of his "night" subjects - the ladyboys, the soi dog, the bright neon lights against the dark sky - a reality ...
