GE: WP's housing proposals amount to creating policies to crash sector, says Mah

SINGAPORE : National Development Minister Mah Bow Tan said the Workers' Party's housing proposals amount to creating deliberate policies to crash the sector here. Mr Mah has rebutted the Workers' Party's proposed housing policies which are in its manifesto. One of the Workers' Party's proposals is to peg new HDB flat prices to median incomes of households that qualify to buy them. The other proposal is to lower land prices for HDB flats. Mr Mah said the opposition party's proposals would devalue the assets of a million HDB home owners. He added that those ill-conceived suggestions would distort the market. Mr Mah said the Workers' Party avoids answering the questions directly when the very serious flaws in its proposals are exposed.
