SINGAPORE : Hong Kah North will undergo a S$163 million improvement project over the next five years. The plan includes new flat upgrading works and lift installations at multi-storey car parks. It will soon be easier for Hong Kah North resident Muhammad Shahrizan to move around on his own. The 17-year-old received a S$2,140 motorised wheelchair, sponsored by the South West Community Development Council, and various donors. On top of that, accessibility in his estate has been improved over the past decade - with the government spending S$109 million to spruce up the area. Some completed works include covered linkways, playgrounds, and a new 104-lot surface car park. Mayor Amy Khor said the new flow of funds will further address the residents' needs.
