WHILE everyone else was enjoying the year-end festivities last Christmas, all Agnes Yan, 53, wanted to do was to put a paper bag over her face to hide one zit above her lip. A trifling matter, you may think. However, Yan's acne problem was anything but trivial. The single pimple had become infected and the inflammation was so severe that the lower half of her face swelled up. Recalling her bad experience, Yan said: "The swelling from the infected pimple was so bad that my gums and lips puffed up. I couldn't eat or even talk properly. There was a constant throbbing pain and blood and pus kept oozing out of the pimple." She also "did not dare to face anyone" and wore a surgical mask at work.
