Someone did the maths. 500m for 5500 flats = 90k a flat. So why is retail price 3x that? #sgelections

Was looking through the yahoo news in regards to Mr. Khaw Boon Wan launched a S$500 million renewal plan for Sembawang GRC. One of the netizen response to the news report which cleverly spot on the cost of the HDB! Below is the post made: "Mr. MBT please stop being petty & belittling the opposition. Show your credibility......... On Saturday Mr. Khaw Boon Wan launched a S$500 million renewal plan for Sembawang GRC, to build around 5,500 new housing units, and introduce various upgrading programmes for selected areas comprising more cycling paths, childcare centres and nursing homes. Logically this works out to be an average (500,000,000/5,500) S$90,909 per new HDB flat inclusive of upgrading programmes for existing areas. Why is the Government charging us more the 3 times for the flats & saying that we are being subsided for new flats? Is it their idea to inflate the price...
